The Majadahonda City Council began the demolition of the building that was intended to be the Majariega headquarters of the London School of Economics on Tuesday.
The 2008 crisis arrived and devastated the economy and its school. The unfinished building suffered deterioration after years of legal disputes and abandonment.
Two weeks ago, it was reported that some individuals had removed elements from the construction and that it was at risk of collapsing. The City Council evacuated the people who were there, some of them for almost a decade.

The municipality stated that the ten occupants, after leaving the failed school, were now being assisted by the local social services.
The demolition work will take place throughout this spring, according to municipal estimates.
