The Veranísimos program proposes a jazz date with Sebastián Chames Quartet Feat at Dehesa de Navalcarbón. Additionally, «Swing a la luz de la luna» will be presented at the 1º de Mayo park and the projection of «La familia Benetón» at Parque París.
«Mójate por la esclerosis múltiple» will take place on Sunday at the Dehesa de Navalcarbón sports center pool. Veranísimos, the summer program of the Las Rozas City Council, offers different outdoor proposals for the first weekend of July on Friday and Saturday nights in three locations in the municipality: the Auditorium of Parque París, the 1º de Mayo park, and Dehesa de Navalcarbón.
Sebastián Chames Quartet Feat will perform at Dehesa de Navalcarbón on Friday at 10:30 p.m. The Hispanic-Argentinian pianist, with six albums and three decades of experience, leads this internationally renowned quartet. Accompanied by the legendary American double bassist Gerald Cannon – a former member of McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, and Roy Hargrove’s groups; the celebrated Valencian saxophonist Javier Vercher, a collaborator of Robert Glasper and Billy Hart; and the Italian drummer Elio Coppola, a regular in both the European circuit and New York clubs like Smalls, Mezzrow, and Birdland. Four mature voices for a current, direct, and unadorned jazz. Tickets can be purchased on the website www.lasrozas.es.
«Swing a la luz de la luna» is the title of the show presented by Swing Las Rozas on Saturday at the 1º de Mayo park, a special evening dedicated to Lindy-Hop and Solo-Jazz. With the Mistress of Ceremonies as a guide, Swing Las Rozas will perform the choreography «Doin’ the Jive.» Following that, a 30-minute open class will be offered to learn the basic steps, and the dance floor will be opened for an animated social dance. The night will end with the emblematic group routine «Shim-Sham.» The event will start at 10 p.m., with free entry until full capacity is reached.
On Saturday at 10 p.m., the amphitheater at Parque París will turn into a summer cinema for all ages, screening «La familia Benetón,» a comedy starring Leo Harlem as Tony, a grumpy bachelor who avoids children. When his sister dies, he suddenly becomes the guardian of her five adopted children, each from a different country. Amid cultural clashes, daily tasks, and doubts about modern parenthood, Tony will learn that true family is not always blood-related: sometimes it is built with those we choose every day. Entry to the movie session is free until full capacity is reached.
Furthermore, the exhibition program continues to offer Mariano Cobo’s «Gotas» show in the Auditorium Hall until July 20. An artist with a broad and recognized career in the national art scene, «Gotas» showcases key pieces from his new phase, blending figurative and abstract elements through painting and sculpture, unveiling colors and shapes that lead him to embark on new aesthetic paths.
«Mójate por la esclerosis múltiple» will be organized by the Madrid Foundation against Multiple Sclerosis (FEMM) on Sunday. This event, held in over 800 beaches and pools in Spain, aims to raise funds and contribute to the fight against this disease. Volunteers will be at the Dehesa de Navalcarbón sports center pool, counting the meters «swum for multiple sclerosis» and encouraging users to participate. Promotional materials can be purchased to support people with Multiple Sclerosis in accessing specialized social care and rehabilitation services. The event will start at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.mojateporlaem.org.
