The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, received today from the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, the Award for Institutional Sports Career in the VI edition of ISDE Sports Convention (ISC 2025), an international congress on sports law and industry whose awards ceremony took place at the Centro Cultural Galileo.
This award recognizes the positioning achieved by the city of Madrid, which has established itself as an international reference in the organization of leisure and sports events. Among the major events hosted by the capital are the Mutua Madrid Open, the Laureus Awards, the celebration of the historic first NFL game in Spain scheduled for November 16, or the Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix at the IFEMA Madrid circuit from 2026 onwards.
The Sports Delegate Councilor, Sonia Cea, was in charge of presenting the Sports Career Award, which this year highlighted the figure of Teresa Perales, the most decorated athlete in the Paralympic Games with a total of 28 medals, between the Sydney 2000 and Paris 2024 Games, equaling Michael Phelps’ record. Throughout her career, the swimmer has been awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports and last May was honored with the Medal of Honor from the City of Madrid.
