El Ayuntamiento de Móstoles se une a los eventos organizados por AMDEM en conmemoración del Día Mundial de la Esclerosis Múltiple, incluyendo la suelta de globos biodegradables y la lectura del manifiesto frente a la Casa Consistorial.
Bajo el lema «Mi esclerosis múltiple es real, no me la invento», se destaca la importancia de concienciar sobre los síntomas invisibles de esta enfermedad crónica, que a menudo no son comprendidos por la sociedad.
En el marco de esta iniciativa, el Alcalde de Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, y otros miembros de la Corporación municipal se unieron a la lectura del manifiesto y la suelta de globos biodegradables en la Plaza de España, en colaboración con el Ayuntamiento de Alcorcón.
La campaña busca sensibilizar sobre la esclerosis múltiple y destacar la necesidad de comprender y reconocer sus múltiples síntomas, muchos de los cuales son invisibles. Además, se aboga por un diagnóstico temprano, financiación justa, investigación de nuevos tratamientos, acceso a rehabilitación integral y equidad en el tratamiento farmacológico.
Las asociaciones también solicitan más apoyo para los cuidadores, adaptación laboral, accesibilidad universal y mayor sensibilización de la sociedad hacia las personas con esclerosis múltiple.

The Móstoles Multiple Sclerosis Association (AMDEM) has organized a joint event at 12:00 pm between the City Council of Móstoles and the City Council of Alcorcón, where a manifesto will be read and biodegradable balloons will be released in front of the Town Halls of both municipalities simultaneously.

This year’s awareness campaign slogan is «My Multiple Sclerosis is real, I’m not making it up,» emphasizing the need to understand and recognize the numerous symptoms this disease can cause, up to 14 at the same time, many of which are invisible and make it poorly understood by society. Fatigue, vision problems, gait disorders, coordination and balance issues, memory and concentration impairments, sleep disturbances, depression or mood changes, and pain are among the most common symptoms.
The manifesto-decalogue in support of people with multiple sclerosis includes points such as the need for early diagnosis, fair public funding, increased research for new treatments leading towards a definitive cure with the collaboration of the pharmaceutical industry, access to comprehensive, personalized, free, and continuous rehabilitation treatment, and equal access to pharmacological treatment in autonomous communities and hospitals.
Furthermore, associations are requesting more commitment from employers in adapting workplaces and complying with the 2% quota for hiring people with disabilities, ensuring universal accessibility, and raising awareness in society towards people with multiple sclerosis and their families.
They also call for increased support from public administrations towards primary caregivers, such as families, and the implementation of information and education campaigns to improve social understanding of this disease, whose symptoms affect the patient in their work, family, social relationships, and quality of life.
