The Almudena Cathedral hosted last night the traditional Easter concert performed by the Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid, organized by the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sports. An event attended by 1,200 people that has already established itself as a reference in the cultural programming of these celebrations.
Under the baton of their titular conductor, Jan Cober, the Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Sinfonía concertante para vientos en mi bemol mayor, K 297b. The recital included a careful selection of processional marches, a musical genre deeply rooted in Spanish tradition and closely linked to the Easter parades. The solemnity of the music and the majesty of the temple transported the attendees to the purest essence of these dates.
The Easter program in the capital also includes other music-related proposals such as the XVIII cycle ‘Música de órgano de San Ginés’, the singing of saetas from balconies as some of the main processions pass by, or the drumming on Easter Sunday. /
