The delegate of Social Policies, Family, and Equality, José Fernández, and the councilor of Centro, Carlos Segura, presented today at the Maravillas Social Services Center the story Los recuerdos de Chole, an initiative of the social workers of the Centro district, promoted by the municipal board, to make known the resources and services that the Madrid City Council dedicates to the social care of people, to which it allocates more than 660 million euros this year throughout the city.
Chole’s story is that of many residents of the city of Madrid, a person affected by unwanted loneliness, by mental deterioration, and in need of help from municipal social services. Through the story, the authors explain the resources that Chole, like any other neighbor, can find in municipal social services.
It is a simple, friendly, and above all, easy to understand story for everyone, in which social workers refer to cognitive deterioration in the elderly or unwanted loneliness, especially among women. The story talks about telecare, nursing homes for the elderly, home care, and the need for companionship, for someone to listen to the neighbor and attend to their needs, which is ultimately the daily work of these professionals who work in municipal social services centers.
In total, the Centro Municipal Board has printed 1,100 copies that will be available to residents at social services centers (Puerta de Toledo and Maravillas), municipal senior centers (Antón Martín, Benito Martín Lozano, Dos Amigos, and San Francisco), day centers, health centers, and mental health centers in the district, as well as in the Home Care and Telecare services throughout the city and for any resident who requests it. /
