The Fire Department of the City of Madrid celebrates today the day of its patron, San Juan de Dios, with various events that have taken place, mainly at the San Rafael University Hospital where the vice mayor and delegate of Security and Emergencies, Inma Sanz, has participated, thanking their «essential daily work» and emphasizing the «commitment» of the municipal government to the Madrid Firefighters.
Sanz, accompanied by the councilor of the Chamartín district, Yolanda Estrada, has participated in the traditional distribution of toys among hospitalized children, alongside municipal firefighters.
Afterwards, a mass was celebrated and recognitions were given by the Hospital Order of San Juan de Dios, ending with an exhibition of maneuvers by the Madrid firefighters in the hospital’s esplanade.
In addition, on the occasion of their patron’s festivity, the Fire Department of Madrid is hosting open house events this weekend at the 13 parks in the city, between 10:30 am and 1:45 pm. Those who have signed up in advance – all spots for the parks have been filled – will see the facilities, vehicles, and learn how firefighters carry out their daily work. /
