21 DISTRITOS da la bienvenida al verano con baile, circo y fotografía

21 DISTRITOS, the cultural revitalization program of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Area of the City Council of Madrid, kicks off the summer period with a series of activities that invite you to dance, participate, reflect, and enjoy public spaces.

June 21 marks the beginning of summer and with it the arrival of street fairs and popular festivals in neighborhoods and towns. Therefore, the terrace of the Casa de Vacas Cultural Center (Retiro) will host an urban-style street fair by the hand of the company Llume and Pedagogías Invisibles. The activity ¿Verbeneamos con groove? will take place at 8:15 PM and invites everyone to participate in traditional games through urban dances. An activity for all ages that encourages thinking and reflecting on the value of dance as a social expression that builds community.

On the same day, June 21, at 12:30 PM, the photography exhibition Madrid desde la calle will be inaugurated at the Príncipe de Asturias Cultural Center (Ciudad Lineal). Discover the visual narrative created by the participants in the photography workshop Madrid desde la calle, guided by Hanna Jarzabek and carried out in recent weeks with people who have experienced or are experiencing homelessness. A sharing where the reality of lived experiences is shown, creating new channels of communication and exchange with the public, breaking stereotypes and contributing to rebuild the collective imagination.

On June 22, at 11:30 AM, the courtyard of the Galileo Cultural Center (Chamberí) will host DOMTE, a circus and theatrical show by director and artist Nacho Flores, which invites reflection on control and freedom. All this treated from a poetic, visual, comedic perspective and accompanied by live music.

Finally, on June 25, at 11:30 AM, the screening África en Cinecicleta will arrive at the Cañada Real Socio-Community Center (Vicálvaro) with its curious pedal-powered energy system, which will power a motor/alternator installed on a simple stationary bicycle.

Next week, La Sub25 returns to Madrid Río

Next Saturday, June 28, from 8:30 PM to 2:30 AM, the fifth edition of La Sub25 arrives, the festival featuring young talent. Nave de Terneras, the Multi-Purpose Esplanade, and the surroundings of Madrid Río (Arganzuela) will be the stage for a wide program that includes dance, performances, art, circus, augmented reality, and participatory activities, among other proposals, to showcase the talent, creative strength, and multiculturalism of the youngest artists. An artistic and participatory gathering that supports collective and cultural thinking, seeking to move away from large crowds to strengthen the sense of creative community. /
