Since the launch of the ‘Your library at a click’ initiative on June 16th, the City Council has offered free access to digital reading of various titles through QR codes installed on buses and bus shelters of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT Madrid). There have been 1,937 readings of the available works. A sangre y fuego by Manuel Chaves Nogales and Bodas de sangre by Federico García Lorca are the most read works out of the eight offered.
After participating in the Bibliometro initiative, which will continue to be offered by the Community of Madrid, the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sports now promotes reading among passengers on the EMT Madrid bus network. Through a simple and intuitive QR code scanning system, available on 300 buses in the network, users can access a catalog that will be updated in successive editions.
Users can read online or download the work to their devices to continue reading even without mobile network access. Within the latter option, a total of 341 downloads have been made, with online reading being the preferred option by users, with 1,596 readings.
Each work has received the following number of readings:
- A sangre y fuego by Manuel Chaves Nogales, 444 readings
- Bodas de sangre by Federico García Lorca, 338 readings
- Miau by Benito Pérez Galdós, 290 readings
- Sonata de invierno by Ramón María del Valle-Inclán, 244 readings
- El rayo que no cesa by Miguel Hernández, 198 readings
- Los pazos de Ulloa by Emilia Pardo Bazán, 185 readings
- Soledades by Antonio Machado, 142 readings
